Created especially for REAKTOR in 2023, the video offers a deep dive into Brigitta Falkner’s literary and graphic universe.

“My book ‘Strategies of Host Finding’ (Berlin: Matthes & Seitz, 2017) provided the rhizomatically proliferating material for a series of short films. A compilation of this film material was screened on 26 February 2023 at REAKTOR. After a short opening sequence, the host finding begins with a phylogenetic flashback that refutes Dollo’s principle of irreversibility, using the house dust mite as an example. This is followed by short portraits of parasites and super resilient life forms. Rapid cuts alternate with extended digressions on themes such as camouflage and mimicry, interspersed with sequences of intertwined motifs. In the interplay of image, text, and sound, parasitic strategies such as superposition, proliferation, and contamination—through infectious rhymes—unfold their transgressive effect.”
