The artist begins an imaginative search into how she developed her schizophrenia, and wonders if trauma is passed down genetically through generations. She talks to the jamun tree in the courtyard and the tree replies in the voice of an old woman. Images of the Partition of India are used and the artist wonders if her grandmother’s traumatic past (owing to the Partition) has a role to play in her own illness or suffering. The making of this very film could perhaps serve as therapy or catharsis.
