FREITAG, DER DREIZEHNTE
AN EVENING FOR ARNOLD SCHOENBERG
by Johannes Erath and Michael Boder
Special project at the REAKTOR
To mark Arnold Schoenberg’s 150th birthday
19:00
Arnold Schönberg is one of the most influential composers in European music history. However, his music is still polarizing today. Johannes Erath and Michael Boder have created a sensually crazy evening for the MusikTheater an der Wien that delves deep into Schönberg's workshop and soul. They are joined by Christine Schäfer, Magdalena Anna Hofmann, the Klangforum Wien and the Arnold Schoenberg Choir, all of whom have helped shape the MusikTheater an der Wien in recent decades. Together, of course, they also explore the all-important question of whether twelve-tone music is really about the equality of the twelve semitones or whether the composer, plagued by severe triskaidekaphobia (fear of the number 13), simply had to stop after twelve!
